Things I’ve learned since embarking on my journey of motherhood, and continue to learn🙂

I never thought that someday I will write something like this. Growing up as a mother, I have learned a few things and I just want to share it with you all. Just like me, many of us would still think that “he or she is just a kid — and we’ll be teaching/telling/educating them everything about day-to-day life” but here, I must say that my experience has taught me otherwise. We all got a young, dynamic, playful and always smiling teacher.

Ok, now let me get to those learnings as I have a wealth of my experiences to share with you all.

  1. Be Patient And Keep Communicating

I would like to express my experience, specifically how it has changed over the past 3 years since I have become a parent and how it relates to my interaction with my toddler. My experience as a mother has taught me that patience is the ability to wait without frustration or anger and communication involves speaking clearly to ensure that others understand what I want or what I want to say.

Before, I struggled with being impatient and less communicative in multiple aspects of my life, but now I realize that patience and to keep communicating is key in nurturing my relationship with my son.

I try to listen to my toddler “Vyom”, attentively and with understanding, even though his language skills are still developing. I also remain calm when giving him medicine, using storytelling as a way to make his experience more enjoyable. I believe that by staying patient and continually communicating can flourish your relationships.

2. Be A Teacher As Well As Student

Being a parent is not just about teaching your child, but also about learning from them. To achieve this, it is necessary to have certain qualities such as being compassionate, patient, caring, positive, adaptable and open-minded. Through actively listening and engaging with my son, Vyom, I am constantly learning and growing alongside him as we explore new crafts, drawing, coloring, games, rhymes and other activities. Trying to keep up a playful and enthusiastic attitude and staying present in each moment everyday, I am able to make the most of our learning experiences together.

3. Curiosity, Observation, And Problem Solving

Vyom is very curious and thorough when it comes to exploring new things, whether they be toys or any other household items. He carefully looks at them from all the angles, and will often tell us the color, shapes, numbers or alphabets on the item. He also asks questions like how to use it, What to do with it, Where to keep it and so on. Even when his toys break, he explores the broken parts and tries to fix them himself, and if he can’t, he will ask his papa or me for help and observe how we fix it sitting beside us, so that he can learn how to do it himself in the future. His observation is so good, that he learns things in just one take.

4. Trusting my Intuitions

That strong inner feeling is a great thing to follow.

Intuitions like — being selective in choosing childcare options, anxiety about crowded spaces, unreliable people and so on.

“Mothers, have faith in your instincts and confidently make decisions. You know what’s best for your child.”

5. Live In The Moment

“When my partner and I see our child, Vyom, we often wish we could be children again. The way he plays with energy, smiles with joy, gives without expectation, speaks with calm and care, enjoys things with happiness, and approaches life with positivity is truly inspiring. My message is to live in each moment and make the most of it. Give it a go, I believe you can do it.”

6. Spending Time With Your Loved Ones

It can be difficult to spend quality time with loved ones due to busy schedules and lack of time. People often get caught up in their daily tasks and responsibilities and may not have time to connect with their family members, friends, and loved ones. However, it is important to remember that time is precious and should be cherished with loved ones. Rushabh (my husband) and I realized the value of spending time with loved ones when we used to see Vyom grow up quickly.

We now make an effort to talk with our parents every day and their friends frequently. Though it may not be possible to always make time, it is worth trying to do so and experiencing the magic and happiness that comes from being with loved ones.

Conclusion: My personal thought

Being a good mother (& yes, father as well 😛) is about actions, not just words. It’s about being selfless, caring, flexible, patient, kind and inspiring your kids to be like this in their own life. There is no such a thing as a perfect mother, but there are countless ways to be a good one🙂

Ohh…I don’t want to stop writing, there are numerous things to write.

So my all the dearest mama’s and papa’s, I know that you all are -

Bundle of emotions, strong as rock.

Exhausted, still pushing through without fail.

Feeling anxious, yet always clinging to optimism.

Eager to move forward, yet content to wait for the right moment.

Struggling overwhelming odds, yet never giving up.

Confident and inspiring, even when met with skepticism.

Awesome, even in the messiness and confusion.

Continuously making a positive impact on life.

Thank you for reading my post. I hope you found it relatable. I would love to hear about your experiences, so please feel free to share them in the comments. Also, don’t forget to check out my next post.
